Who We Are:

When dining out in London Peter Connor noticed a small card on the table. Having read about the fundraising initiative called StreetSmart Peter decided there and then that he would champion this idea in Ireland. Knowing the valuable work that they do. Peter approached Barnardos with the StreetSmart concept and formed a fundraising partnership.

2008 sees the inaugural year for the StreetSmart campaign in Ireland. Every cent raised will go directly to Barnardos. Barnardos is Irelands leading children’s charity, working with children whose wellbeing is under threat. In Ireland today one in nine children live in consistent poverty, that is 111,000 children growing up in conditions that prevent them reaching their full potential. Barnardos works from over 40 centres across Ireland located in the heart of local communities. Barnardos provides support to children and families, helping to give them the right start so that they can reach their goals in life. At Barnardos no child gets left behind. StreetSmart UK
StreetSmart was set up in 1998 by two William Sieghart and Mary-Lou Sturridge. The idea was simple – during November and December in the run-up to Christmas, many people go out to eat in restaurants and celebrate the spirit of the holidays. They thought it be great if they could harness just a little of that "good cheer" and raise money for worthy charities while people were enjoying a nice meal out?
